Step 4: Line the Cage

Line the cage with newspaper sections, spread open into thick layers. I usually combine about 3 sections of newspaper for a depth of maybe 10-20 pages.

As I finish lining parts of the cage, I like to tape the newspapers securely together at the edges, using clear wide mailing tape. This strengthens the bottom lining, plus keeps certain piggies from pulling up the newspaper and ruining the lining underneath, not to mention any names, Scruffles :)

Step 4D: Having recovered nicely from the vinegar trauma, this is a fun time for the piggies to check out what I'm doing with all of that delicious newspaper. (Again, not to name names, but one piggy, in particular, likes to nibble the newspapers at the fold...Pippi!)
