Day 1 - May 11, 2004 |

Today, I found three baby robins in a nest, well hidden in our rhododendron bush. They can't be
more than a few days old. A few weeks ago, I noticed the then-empty nest and wondered which type of bird had
built it and whether any eggs would appear. Sure enough, four small, blue eggs appeared one day. After that,
I occasionally spotted a robin flying in and out of the bush. |

One day, I saw a large crow in my driveway. Since I hate crows (sorry to any crow-lovers out there),
I decided to chase it away. At the same time I did that, I noticed a second crow fly away. It had been in the
rhododendron bush and had broken one of the eggs! Luckily, the other three eggs were fine, but I noticed they had dark
spots. I don't know what this meant, but the next time I checked the nest a few days later, this is what I found.
